Formally a first/second degree in finance is required.  Practically real business practice is essential in order to be a good analyst. A superb memory is critical as well.

The basic tools you will use are: Exell, Word, Power point and lots of reading and interviewing.

The job description is basically: Read, Read, Read, think, ask, think, read, write, write, write, present and back to the beginning.
