I'm not sure what you mean by just wanting to tax yourself, but it really depends on the type of business you want to start. You could start a franchise, which is a turn-key operation but typically requires a significant amount of start-up capital. Other business models will take more planning, because you will have to come up with procedures, policies, plans, marketing, branding, etc. all on your own. If you have talent that you could offer to companies on a freelance basis, I would highly recommend that method as the easiest way to start a business. Independent consultants exist in many fields, consider your background, experience and expertise and decide if you could be successful as a consultant. If that's the case, I also recommend working with a portable employer of record to simplify the process. You wouldn't have to go through the hassle of setting up any type of formal business entity, and you would save a lot of time and have access to other benefits.
