Bush in the Middle East

Do you think President Bush's recent visit to the Middle East will have any affect on the peace process? Do you think his stand on creating an independent Palestinian State will affect his popularity both within the United States and internationally?

Love is the battery of life....

Hi,

President Bush will force the parties to reach a peace treaty but it will not be worth the value of the paper it was written on......  Please remember that more than half of the Palestinians do not accept their President (Abu Mazen) and say, loud and clear, that they will not accept any agreement that he will sign.....  Very sad but very true....
Best regards,

Wisdom begins in wonder

I think that Bush administration is playing a game called "we are the good guys." I think that B. administration likes to be both sided in the Israel Palestine conflict. If they are asking for peace between those two now, it has to serve B. administration in some way. My opinion is that they are calming the waves in one area, because they need to stir things up elsewhere.

God and me..........we be mates!

He went there to say goodby to his troops.  He was responsible for them being there, all volunteers mind you.  It had nothing to do with peace, well maybe a little.  As a combat veteran myself, it is easy to see that the Commander-in-Chief would want to be with his troops one last time.  A despot, probably next in line to Hitler is no more.  That is what makes this country great.  We conquer no land.  We give the present of freedom to many and alas, many of our citizens don't know what that means or what it truely requires.

As for Palestine, I haven't seen anyone around here by the name of Solomon lately.  It seems a seperate Palestinian state is the best current answer.  As far as popularity goes, I don't believe there has ever been a president that hasn't done what he truely believes is in the best interest of this country, popularity be dammed!  That is what the job calls for and the American peoiple can expect no less.  These are exciting times.  I didn't vote for Senator Obama but, he will be our new Commander-in-Chief and he will get my full support.  And like the quote by President Roosevelt speaking before the congress on December 8, 1941, where they left the an incomplete quote on the WWII memorial in Washington, D.C., "so help me God!"

The lines are drawn in the sand, the American people are alive and awake, well most anyway.
Kick it and call names, Let the Freedom Ring

First off for me to take you seriously why you have the icon you do?  I sport double D's but dont play on Yedda, I mean business.

So anyway, Bush will go down in history as a great and powerful leader while this piece of camel dung will go down, if we survive and history will be written, as the man who sacrificed Israel and the US to the Mussies.

Ya Betcha, and by the by, I am sick of all this Palin crap, she is a good ole girl, look her up.  Deserves everything she gets.  She is the one who opted to go on Sat night live after they insinuated her husband committed incest with her children and the stupid, limelight loving embicile did a dance in her chair as they mocked her.

Yes indeed go Palin, woman who slaughters animals, woman who oppresses Native Alaskans, woman who lies in bed with big oilmen, go indeed to hades.

Bolton: Israeli Attack Best Option on Iran Wednesday, July 29, 2009 12:09 PM By: Jim Meyers Article Font Size The U.S. is seeking to dissuade Israeli from attacking Iran's nuclear facilities — when such an act is likely the only way to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran, says former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton. Defense Secretary Robert Gates recently set off for Jerusalem to convince the Israelis to forego a military strike in favor of President Barack Obama's efforts to deal with the Iranian problem through diplomacy. But those diplomatic efforts are doomed to fail, according to Bolton, author of "Surrender Is Not an Option: Defending America at the United Nations." In an opinion piece appearing in Wednesday's Wall Street Journal, Bolton observes: "Obama has no new strategic thinking on Iran. He vaguely promises to offer the country the carrot of diplomacy — followed by an empty threat of sanctions down the road if Iran does not comply with the U.S.'s requests." But "there's no reason Iran would suddenly now bow to Mr. Obama's diplomatic efforts, especially after its embarrassing election in June." Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's recent vow to extend the U.S. "defense umbrella" to Israel is "wholly insufficient to deter Iran from obliterating Israel if it so decides," Bolton also states. "In fact, Mrs. Clinton's comment tacitly concedes that Iran will acquire nuclear weapons." In the meantime, Iran's continuing progress with its nuclear program and air defenses mean that "Israel's military option is declining over time. It will have to make a decision soon, and it will be no surprise if Israel strikes by year's end," according to Bolton. He concludes: "Absent Israeli action, prepare for a nuclear Iran."
