Bush and Cheney Arrested

Would it make you happy to see Bush and Cheney arrested for war crimes?  This could happen, according to this

article.  What do you think would happen in America if this actually happened?

Hi. My initial thoughts on this are the following. However much we dislike the actions of the persons you mentioned (and perhaps others in the administration as well) such an arrest would seem to me very unlikely and would certainly not take place in the territory and under the jurisdiction of the US government. Other countries could do it, but first there would have to be an official indictment of the International Criminal Court, which is also unlikely.

Now, could it make one happy? There is a case to be made against these gentlemen, especially regarding the invasion in Iraq. Apart from the fact that punishing a criminal doesn't seem to be a happy occasion in general (the existence of a crime is always a tragedy), the objective of punishing Bush and Cheney seems to me to result from simplistic anti-americanism iin some cases, and from symbolist politics in other cases. It would furthermore create resentment in US public opinion. The US would regard the world as antagonists, which is negative for all involved.

Hi,

It certainly wouldn't make me happy but rather very sad. It would make me happy to see justice be done and I feel that Bush and Cheney aren't guilty of war crimes. If it were to turn out that they are guilty I would expect America to make little changes with the elections so close. Perhaps after the Bush and Cheney would be punished for their deeds.

I don't think one can blame Bush or Cheney for the stuff that went down there. Perhaps the odd soldier taking the law into his hands and forgetting his place (not to be taken lightly at all) or even high ranked officers bending the rules but I don't think there was a policy that justifies prosecution for war crimes.

I think this would hasten America's getting out of Iraq. Their successors would have an easier time getting the support for such a move.

Study A Country and its People and their Religion and their Customs Before Judging Them...

Remember the Ultimatum Bush gave to the Iraqi People... Telling them to give up Saddam Hussein or else!! Imagine the American People being given this Ultimatum by NATO ( AMERICA WENT AGAINST NATO AND DIDNT HAVE THEIR BACKING IN THE IRAQ WAR ).. Do you think it would be justified by the world in Bombing the hell out of a country for two men... Then the Occupation of Peacekeeping Iranian troops... And Americans being criticised for fighting back after being abused!
