Does the Bush Administration want the dollar to plummet?

Does the Bush Administration want the value of the dollar to decrease?  Is there some sort of government conspiracy to make the dollar plummet?  If so, what is the motivation and how is this going to effect our daily lives as Americans?

Hi,

The value of the dollar is determined (as any other "commodity") by demmand & supply.  Since the US trade balance is bad (as a result of the war in Iraq etc) the demand decreased dramatically (people around the world don't trust the dollar).  The Bush administartion is sure in favour ( = encourages) that trend.  It's not that bad: It encourages the export and discourages the import.  From the american people point of view: It will be more expensive to go abroad (overseas), prices will go up, inflation is expected, and import will be more expensive.   That will encourage the economy in general to grow and take advantage of the opportunity.
Best regards,

I think Oron described it pretty well. About the conspiracy  I think you can add it to the many other stories evolving in the last couple of years trying to impede the administration. Economy and therefore the dollar value is affected by everything that surrounds us  . A couple bad decisions  trying to make the dollar stronger have caused it to sink. But remember that the economy always works in cycles so you know what you should expect.
