Buddha Eyes symbol

In Nepal there are a couple of temples that has eyes and something in between them. I was told its the eyes of Buddha. What is the symbol in between them?

It looks a little bit like a snake.

This is a picture of such temple, look at the eyes below the tower:

The curious snake like image between the Buddha eyes is actually a Sanskrit figure representing the numeral one; in this manner it symbolizes the unity of all things.

The small dot depicted between the eyes represents the third eye, a symbol of spiritual awakening. The curious squiggle between the eyes is the Sanscrit numeral one, and symbolizes the unity of all things.
