There is never a good time to buy a new computer.

Broken Power Connection on a Laptop

Looking for a work around to be able to use a HP Laptop with a broken power adapter connection. Plug where the power cord plugs in is no longer attached to the motherboard. 

Rest of the machine is fine, cord just got snagged and snapped off the place that it plugs in.

Only thing that I could think of was to run it off the battery, but I then need a way to be able to charge the battery.

Any other suggestions?

There is never a good time to buy a new computer.

As I couldn't come up with a decent work around on this, I broke out the soldering iron and fixed it properly.

Unless you wanna buy a new battery every 3 hours or so. Have it fixed.

i have the same exact problem..the male end of the adapter snapped and it was sparking and smelling like gunpowder..i thought the computer was just very hot so i bought a new fan..but it still smelled but then i saw a spark come out and realized it broke....how do i fix this????

You have to solder it and fixed it. Laptop doesn't have external charger since putting back the battery is a hard task. Do not attempt to charge if chords are broken, it can cause short circuit and might burn the unit.
