Cora: Things don't look good for your relationship. And, you must feel terrible, being in such a state of surprise and shock after all that has happened between you and him so quickly. You will probably never know the reasons for him breaking up. He might not know them, either.

Probably, for him, the "chemistry" was not there. It sound as though he really cares for you, judging by the fact that he showed up, and cried and shook a bit. But, that's not the same as deeply loving you as a long-term prospect. I think that's what he's looking for at this stage in his life.

One never knows in life if a reunion might occur. It could, especially as he cares for you and your well-being. But, I don't think the prospects are very good. He had his opportunity to change his mind and be with you again, but said/did nothing. You sound like a very nice person to me. Perhaps this is a very good time to put yourself "out there" and find a man who can better appreciate your mutual love.
