Anyone with a good definition of a brand diamond used in branding / communication?

A brand diamond is only one of a number of graphic/structural templates used by different companies/people to express brand positioning and values - Unilever, for example, uses a 'brand key' (like the diamond, roughly key-shaped).  None of these approaches are definitive, and if copied slavishly can confuse more than clarify.  I would recommend arriving at your own brand definition using whatever makes sense (and as always, the simpler the better).
