Bottled fiber and protein vs the real thing!

Is it possible to be minus a few hundred feet of intestine for lack of a unneeded digesting job? A friend said that eating and drinking multiple protein supplements and fiber drinks will cause the loss of intestines. This person also recommended eating, 2-3 fruits such as apple, pear, banana or plum/prune. I added eating 3-4 fresh raw veggies such as celery, cucumber, broccoli and Romaine lettuce. What do you think?
