Books summaries - Make it public-+

I am a learning person.  I read a lot.  Each book I summarize (5-8 pages, typically). in the last say 7 years I summarized some 650 books.  It is very useful to me but I feel many others could use it as well and take advantage.  Any ideas ?

There are several online services that allow you to save backup copies of files from your computer on their servers. At least one of them, eSnips, allow you to make the backup "public", so every user of the service can access and view it. eSnips also allows for a storage of up to 5 GB per account.

The problem is to publish the existence of the files. I would find out about several more similar backup services, and then open an account on myspace (or similar services), from which I'd link to one of the backup services.

Whatever you decide to do, post a link to the solution you've found on this thread. Sounds like something worth bookmarking.

Very good idea, and very generous of you, but I'm pretty sure that the copyrights laws won't allow you to do it.

I wouldn't think the copyright laws would matter on this issue. I think you should start a blog or a wiki (wikis are great for sharing knowledge). If that was true about the copyright laws, then every book reviewer could be held liable and no one would ever see book reviews on blogs or in magazines or newspapers. In fact, your summaries might even spark people's interest and help books to sell.

Also, have you checked out Librarything? It's great for avid readers.

Let me know if I can provide greater detail - thanks.

Help the UN feed people by playing a game Go to freerice.com For every correct answer in the game, rice is donated to hungry people It's FREE, fun, and educational.  To feed animals for free, go to http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive.  "What does it profit a man to gain the world if he loses his soul?"

What you have created is called an annotated bibliography.  Usually these revolve around a topic or theme, such as, 100 greatest books, important books of the Xth century, or like the one I produced in college which is now in their library, all the books on scriptwriting and playwriting available.  These types of books have a function.

If you can determine your books function or theme, you can then seek an editor and or a publisher.  3000+ pages is a lot, so maybe it's a series of books or collected volumes?

You are to be commended for doing so much reading..that is really great...I thought I liked to read..and then to have the  patience to sit and write out, etc.,,,,really marvelous!!! as far as others getting any use out of your efforts, you might try asking your local library.....unfortunately, there are several types of books with nothing but plot lines, story lines, etc.,,,but you never know...but I'd start locally...the library may be able to give you an idea of what to do next, or what other avenues you could pursue with this.....good luck!!!
