Here are some books I liked when I was your age. Some are fun, and some are serious:

The Giver-Lois Lowry

The Outsiders-S.E. Hinton

The Diary of Anne Frank

To Kill a Mockingbird-Harper Lee

Any of the "Joey Pigza" Books. They're an easy read, and just generally fun.

The Chronicles of Narnia-C.S. Lewis Any of the books in this series!

Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

You have been given some good choices, there. You may also want to go to your local library and ask the librarian for suggestions.

A few other authors I might suggest are Margery Sharp, Madeleine L'Engle, E. Nesbit, Edward Eager, Kenneth Grahame, L.M. Montgomery, John Steinbeck, Charles Dickens, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Marguerite Henry.

Please note that subject matter and writing styles of the above listed authors vary (from mystery and fantasy to animals and history); as I am not sure what genre appeals to you.

You also don't have to limit yourself to the 'young adult' section. Browse the shelves at the library or the book store and pick up whatever catches your eye. Read the synopsis on the dust jacket or leaf through a few pages. You'll soon discover an author you want to read.

Then, after you've read everything that author has to offer; repeat the process and make another selection. (This is where used book stores come in handy.)

Happy reading!

Question Authority

Okay, so you got some great suggestions from above (thumbs up), but I think a really good author you might like is one called V.C. Andrews.  They are young adult books, but I started reading them at 10, and still read them now.  They come out in series (which is like 4 or 5 books to a series), so make sure if you do get one, to get the first one in a series.  Hope this helps!

The book "The Little Prince" is really a nice book for you to read. It will provide you a lot of wisdom without getting bored. And also collections of Chicken Soup and Bo Sanchez's books are great!
