You probably need to upgrade your player firmware, because your current firmware does not support new features and copy protection measures that have been introduced recently. What's even more frustrating, is that your Blu-ray player probably doesn't have an internet connector, as only recently a new batch of players started to sport that connectivity. Of course it was a feature of any HD DVD player from the day go, but that is an ancient history. And of course PS3 always had that connector.
Basically you have two options. One is very radical: sell your player on eBay, and get a PS3 instead. Or buy a Blu-ray player of newest generation. The other option is to download a firmware update from manufacturer's web site, burn it onto a CD and install it in your player according to the instructions you might find on manufacturer's site. For what is worth, PS3 is still the best and cheapest Blu-ray player out there.
