In my day job I write about Blood Pressure Treatment and treat those who suffer from blood pressure problems. Low blood pressure is a particular interest and I'm often asked about how to lower cholesterol levels. A healthy heart is becoming a huge focus for many of us nowadays. Improving your blood pressure control and thus the health of your heart and circulation system is really important. My most recent online "adventure" is to start a facility for people to ask me my opinion and to provide high quality health information by answering medical questions online.

I also have a special interest in the problem of feeling Tired All the Time and in those who suffer from chronic fatigue or lethargy. This seems to tie in also to skin care issues or skin treatment problems and suggestions. Tiredness and fatigue can lead to major problems for many individuals in modern society and the way that this can affect all areas of general health can be quite invasive in terms of daily life and coping skills.

My work with footballers and athletes leads to a focus on Painful Shoulder conditions and on the problems associated with frozen shoulder or whiplash injuryRotator cuff injury causes problems for many of my patients.

When not working I daydream about my next amazing european vacation trip  My favorite European cities include Paris and Barcelona and my next blog project will be to write about the best way to spend a night in Paris and how to find an apartment in Barcelona. I just love European travel in all its forms.

Blood Pressure Medicine Side Effects

I'm a doctor with a special interest in high blood pressure. I hear lots of reports of blood pressure medicine side effects.

Are you taking medicine for blood pressure? Does it cause you to have side effects.

Let me know and I'll share your experiences with others

I don't see that you have responded to any these, gc5321! You think you should 'follow up" with the information.

This is my first answer to a question!

The question indicates that gc5321 is supposed to be following the responses but has not taken the time to offer suggestions.

A simple answer would be to ask you: How do you feel? To answer other than I am would violate the first precept of medicine. "First of all do no Harm."

When one begins treatment for hypertension, there can what is called a 'rebound phenomenon' that lowers the values below what is expected. The values given are considered 'within normal limits.'  Without any other information or with other information: please notify the physician that prescribed the medication!

This has been an open question for two years but there are those with recent answers, too. Donna aka Maya answered one a year ago: "What's the best blood pressure monitor?"

My suggestion is that it is always best to refer questions such as this to the physician that prescribed the medication.  Don't you think that would be a better choice?

KKPB asked 23 days ago and I answered the same question on page 1 and there are answers after my post.

What would you suggest, Yadgy?

Hi Yadgy
I am sorry I misspelled your name -- it was a typographical error and I think it is a cute name. When I answered your post, your profile wasn't available and I see that it is now. You are correct about a part of my answer because I thought you must be 18 or younger and I didn't know that you were a new member of the Yedda Community and might not know about all that was involved in the Harassment Petition that PB began because there were so many problems and what we once called The War of Thumbs -- Yaniv, the co-founder of Yedda, was very helpful. A lot of the posts are missing but I still have most of them. Here is a link for you: http://yedda.com/questions/Yeddai_petition_end_harassment_2737317423179/
You are correct about my email address, too. I need to edit that because I even entered that incorrectly! I did tell you thank you for your answer to the meaning of friendship and I hope that you never have to walk alone . . . Cyber Space can be a very lonely place without friends!
I did not mean for my answer to sound disrespectful to you or your name. I just wanted to know what you would suggest as an answer for the people that still ask questions when there is no-one to answer them. Davida thought it was wrong not to close the question and she asked Sugar to help answer KKPB's question. Davida has another year of medical school at UNC, Chapel Hill. Sugar graduated from there and she is a family practice physician. All three of us are from North Carolina but now I live in Texas. I think Sugar will enjoy Yedda and I hope you will too.
Would you like for me to send an email to Sugar and ask that she answer your question? I know she has clinic until noon on Saturdays.
Yadgy, I always try to apologize if I know that what I have written is hurtful so I do understand about not commenting to you.

Hello Yadgy and how are you today?
The Yedda format has changed so I'm glad that I'm new to the system. Honey sent me an email about you and your blood pressure question. Davida is still in medical school so she was uncomfortable about answering your question.
For most people that have a fluctuating blood pressure, the question I ask first is how do you feel and is that the reason for taking your blood pressure? If you are taking any medications you should discuss this with your own physician. People that have diabetes seem to have problems because of their glucose levels.
Sugar or honey? Honey is a natural sweetener and is always better for you than sugar. It is a better food source, too. I prefer honey instead of sugar but I don't like food that is sweet except for fruits.
Davida and I had supper together last evening and we both wondered if you have other medical problems or if you are pre-diabetic. Have you noticed if there is a difference when you eat certain foods? Patients can have a disorder that drops their glucose level if they have eaten too much sugar. Your physician needs to know about this and may want you to have a glucose tolerance test -- when someone people eat something that has a high sugar content, it can cause their glucose level to drop below what is normal. If that happens, I suggest making certain that there is a good source of protein to help with their problem. Blood pressure readings are often related to glucose levels.
Yadgy, you really do need to discuss this with your own physician because there may be medical problems that haven't been diagnosed.  Now you take care of yourself!

I have been on HBP pills for about a year and the side effects are making me crazy.  Im always lightheaded, dizzy, and constapated.  I am looking into getting off of the meds.  Whats the risk?  Now let me preface this by saying that i suffer from anxiety so when in went into the Dr. office a year ago my anxiety was really going through the roof so my BP was high.  Basically i don't think i should have been on medicine.  And now i want to get off so i can live my life normally again.

Please any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you very much!
