My interests are genetics and infectious disease -- there have been times that a patient will present with hypertension and a predisposing family history and the related complications.
Cozaar, as an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, has the added benefit of keeping the blood vessels from narrowing. It is well tolorated and effective for me.
In rare cases, Cozaar can cause a condition that results in the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, leading to kidney failure. XX patients considering pregancy need to be aware of the effects. As always, one's physician is best able to access any concerns IF the patient understands what to ASK.
Thank you for asking a question that can encourage others to be more responsible for their medical care.
