Bleeding in early pregnancy puts you at higher risk for miscarriage, but many pregnancies that involve early bleeding go on to produce very healthy children.
I had bleeding in all three of my IVF pregnancies. In the first, I had heavy bleeding that ended very quickly in the 6th week. In the second I had heavy bleeding and cramping in the 5th or 6th week (apparently I lost a third sac that had begun to implant and did not develop) and in the third, I had a large hematoma and ended up losing the pregnancy.
Once the bleeding stopped in the first two pregnancies, I went on to have normal, healthy pregnancies and babies.
