No day in which you learn something is a complete loss.

A:

First of all, you have to know that any attempt to reset the password is an advanced and complex issue for newbies and if you don't know what you are doing you should consult with an expert.

If you're not a newbie (or very brave) you can use 2 methods.

1. Physically reset the password.

Your BIOS resides on your motherboard which is fed electricity from a small battery. Disconnect your computer from power and all devices, remove the cover and try to find the motherboard battery. Remove it and then replace it again after a few seconds. On some models there are some jumpers you can move to restore default values to the BIOS, try to find relevant information by searching for your BIOS make and model online.

2. Using a utility. This may be risky and may cause unrecoverable damage to your computer. There are some utilities that flash the BIOS with an update and other that attempt cracking the password.

Here is an article explaining all methods and pointing out some utilities: http://www.dewassoc.com/support/bios/bios_password.htm
