Would you send your kid to school knowing the biology teacher teaches Creationalism?
Would it be something you'd check before enrolling your
Well no.
But if a parent sends her kid to school without verifying where she sends the kid, she deserves anything she gets.
I, personally, am a creationist. I naturally prefer the teaching of creationism to that of evolutionary origins, however, I would honestly prefer neither to be taught as science since neither really stand up in the face of empirical methods of study. But my view of science is far narrower than most.
The key in any situation where the parent differs with the material being taught by a teacher is for the parent to be involved in the education of their child. Absentee parents who simply let someone else educate their children completely deserve whatever that education produces. There is nothing that prevents a parent from supplementing classroom education and I would think such augmentation would be welcomed by concientious educators and ultimately beneficial to children.
All my kids will be homeschooled so we have absolute control over what they learn and I intend to teach creationism from the standpoint of religious studies and evolution from the standpoint of speculative science and in order to provide a far ranging education for my children. Critical thinking will quickly reveal the weakness of dealing with either creationism or evolutional origins as empirical science, and I want to foster that kind of critical thinking in my educational efforts with my kids.

I'm a creationst and i am currently learning about evolution, its not that bad really. If you dont agree with it you dont agree with it. Yes, occasionaly i'll be like "Yo, thats not cool" lol..but it doesnt make me believe in it anymore than i would not learning about it. I would want my kids to be educated in both so they can know whats up.
Well evolution is still not proven it is still correctly refered to as a "theory" as is Creationism. Since both are equally unproven (at least scientifically) then what is the harm in teaching both and letting kids decide. Evolution is taught dogmattically in schools as a proven fact. It is not yet proven and I dougbt that it will be anytime soon.
For anyone open to opposing viewpoints, i suggest seeing the following movies:
A Case for a Creator - Lee Strobel
The Privileged Planet - Guillermo Gonzales
Yes I understand such but I also understand that being bioligists, brains stops working when things start to disappear for them, either before creation or after creation, where they cannot think further. They only live inside their thinking of an embrio, only in a nutshell. What they not know is that God can be proved through science much simpler than their nutshell thinking.
I may not be Mr. Know It All, but I knew him well and he taught me much.
Do you realize that they still call the opposite the "Theory of Evolution"? Do you know what that means? It means that it is not factual, but that it is only a supposition and until it is proven it remains only a possibility.
I'll put it out there before someone else does and tries to make their argument sound like a reason to totally decry creationalism. Yes creationalism is based upon faith and is itself supposition. If evolution is right then we were once monkies. If creationalism is right, then somebody is going to toast.
i am a believer in creationism but...why does it matter that much?
if you reallyyyy dont want your kid believing in it.
then set them straight. let them know your familys beliefs.
