5. Do you have any particular strategies that you use with students who have specific handicaps or learning disabilities who are also ELL? Which are most useful?

6.Have you ever had an ELL student who was also hearing impaired? Please tell me what special techniques or approaches worked best? I have a hearing impaired daughter who is in college and who we adopted at 15-almost 16 from Romania. What would you suggest I pass on to her teachers as the college does not have any resources in personnel or equipment to help her in a way that is effective.

16.  Have you used the SIOP method of putting lessons together and how have you implemented it in your classroom?

17. How do you assess a student’s language acquisition when they speak very little in the classroom?

18. How do you adjust your teaching if the student is ELL and has learning differences?

19. What forms of assessment do you use to measure student growth in language acquisition?

20. In your experience, what would an ideal second language or bilingual program consist of?

21. Do you use Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences to determine your ESL students’ learning styles? If so, how do you incorporate activities that accommodate different learning styles? ADDED: Which educational approaches do you intermingle with Multiple Intelligences with ELL students? Which have been most successful?

22. Do you have any opinions related to teaching ELL students; about brain based learning, specifically Caine & Caine?

23. Are you aware of any technology—I’m specifically thinking of software programs and/or curriculum packages—that are helpful with issues that ELL students may need to work through, such as vocabulary development?

24. Are you aware of any movies/videos/DVDs that are especially helpful for helping ELL students learn the American (whatever that is!) culture?

25. What other resources might be helpful in curriculum development for ELL students? Resources such as publications, journals, websites, organizations, etc.? Which do you find most helpful!
