Yes. If it didn't contain alcohol, it wouldn't be called wine.

The answer about the wine is an interesting if not cryptic answer.

What do you think about the New Living Translation? I've only read about 3 or 4 verses and to me it seems like modern English. How accurate is it?

The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. That one also has God's name in it's original places whereas others had God's name removed.

Isn't the New World Translation the version that the Jehovah's Wittnesses use? I want to stay as far away from anything they use because every Christian I've talked to about them tell me that Jehovah's Wittnesses are not Christians. I believe that only Christians can tell who is and who isn't really a Christian based on their teaching. For example: It's common knowledge that Jesus died on a cross and not on an up-right stake like the Jehovah's Wittnesses proclaim.

Here are good translations of the Bible- NAS, RSV (opposed to NRSV), NKJV. NIV is reasonably close. None of these are going to be easy to read right across the board.

Here is a good paraphrase- CEV.

I would get one of each (one good translation and the CEV).

NWT is indeed a product of the JWs. Their Greek scholarship is woeful. Their translation is inconsistent and is made to support their errant doctrines. Here is a link to support my views- http://www.waltermartin.com.

www.biblegateway.com will let you have unlimited access to many different translations.

e-Sword.net is a free download, and is excellent.

Num. 6:24-26.
