Isaiah 45:7 says the the Lord God creates evil.  How can that be?

Shrek: Well it's no wonder you don't have any friends.
The Donkey: Wow, only a true friend would be that truly honest.

G-d created everything, good and bad in the world, and also created free-will.  This means that people have the choice to become good or to become evil, and the choice to be whatever type of person they want to be.  G-d created everything and every way a person could be, but this does not mean that all ways are good or right.  G-d gave us ways in which to act and ways in which to not be evil, and that is what the Bible is for... to learn the ways in which we are supposed to conduct ourselves in life.

YHVH (The Eternal Creator) didn't directly create evil.   YHVH made the understanding of Righteousness (good) available, as "The knowledge of Good and evil".  Think on this: How can YHVH create GOOD without defining what GOOD is, and by the process of elimination not create evil too?  Obviously evil is everything that GOOD is not.

It is impossible to define Good without, also, defining evil.  Therefore, YHVH created GOOD, and thus evil was a by-product of that process.  However, it is possible for GOOD to completely exist without the presence of evil, and this will be the case during The Sabbath Millennium (The Coming Kingdom of YHVH on Earth).

That scripture indicates that there is peace for those who are righteously disposed or who want to learn about Almighty God; then there is mental darkness to those who

willfully continue in a wrong course, one contrary to Bible standards & principles. "Evil" in this text refers to a calamity or destruction that God brings upon his unrepentent foes, and that particulary at the battle of Armageddon.  From the beginning of the first human Adam, punishment from God upon rebellious people has come from Almighty God but upon the willfully wicked, and this has been justified on God's part but it has been an evil to the ones who deserve it.

Ruth, maybe you should ask a pastor or/and read different commentaries because it's very confusing. I believe God didn't create evil, so there must be an explanation to that. Maybe it's different in the source language.

The way I read it is God doesn't create Evil. The Devil is the Evil one, who is a fallen angel. God may allow Evil to happen but we all must remember we know right from wrong and I believe there are test that we may face testing our faith and hope and trust in our Heavenly Father. I have MS and I have to feel that God did not make this happen. He is testing me with my Faith in him.

Amen, Scarlett. I agree with you. But this verse is confusing. I mean there has to be some explanation. But God of course didn't create evil... I never doubt it
