Bert and Ernie learn to curse

I remember Bert and Ernie from years back, and they always seemed very human in their occasional pettiness and jealousy with their obviously didactic tendencies.

So for me anything where they become cynical or cruel would have been pretty hard to take. Unlike this video where all they do is use the F word.

Warning: blatant and repeated use of the F word in the following video:

Are people really that offended because of the F word?

Yeah, there are a few Bert and Ernie parody videos on YouTube.  The musical "Avenue Q" and the TV show "Wonder Showzen" do basically the same thing ... they're both "dirty" children's shows.  Some people are really that offended -- certain parents' groups, for example.

Personally, I take a middle view.  I think that these parodies are funny ... but I also feel sad that we can't just allow Bert and Ernie to remain innocent.
