Batting gloves

I have a question about Major League baseball players. Why must they undo and redo their batting gloves after every pitch whether the swing or not. I find that disturbing.

Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

IMHO they are so superstitious they do it just as a routine. Like so many other athletes that have certain jukes they perform while they are playing. Or else it is a way to relieve some tension before they bat.

I think it is just a habit, and not a nervous habit.  Those batting gloves are velcro gloves and they do not come loose. I say that because they undo and redo the gloves even if they don't swing.

Another thing that annoys me is when some but not all point to the sky after they hit a home run or whatever.  That annoys me also.

I agree with you 100% regarding your second point. If they want to to that, do it inside the dugout.

These gloves do actually come loose. Don't  forget that a pro athelete have wrists and forearms that are not the average joe. The wrists sweat and gloves need to be adjusted, especially after the swing. If they don't swing, the positive thinking pre routine comes in...just like a golfer...but when the bat gets cocked into the ready, launch position, the muscles stretch away from the glove. This leaves room for a player to re-adjust even though the gloves repositions itself on the hand. The glove just doesn't feel comfortable. When a player needs 100% positive thinking to hit major league pitching, you better stick with a routine that got you there. This is almost like a religious ceremony and we get to watch. The gloves are a part of the dressing up the basball players are wearing. Thank goodness they finally got  a supportive and protective cup that doesn't need constant adjustment. That was being seen constantly where a player would touch the cup as he was getting into the box. Maybe someone will invent a batting glove that will help us not see this repetitive movement that we have no patience for.
