Bath Update

How do I update my bathroom in a 50 y/o house, with a 'medicine cabinet' built in? I would like mirrored doors that close to still keep the built in space, but hide the items.

Is there already a built-in cabinet that you want to upgrade, or do you want to install a new mirrored cabinet in a wall that has nothing now? What kind of wall is it- tile, sheetrock, or plaster?

Sheetrock, with a built in shelf. I would like to put up mirrored doors, so I will have a mirror and cabinet, yet look stylish.

Is the built in shelf something you'd like to save? If it's nothing special, you might want to go down to Lowe's or Home Depot and look at their displays of bathroom medicine cabinets. Some of the models are very minimalist, just doors with mirrors inside and out, mirrors inside, and glass shelves. Installing one is a little involved, but a fairly simple DIY project.

Everything Glass

Many stores like Home Depot or Lowe's sell a variety of medicine cabinets.  Pick one you like and hire a professional to install it.
