The length of time a bankruptcy remains on your credit report depends upon which type of bankruptcy you file. Chapters 7, 11 and 12 remain for 10 years. A Chapter 13 bankruptcy (in which you repay part or all of your debts under a court-approved payment plan) remains on your credit report seven years.
There is no legal way to remove it earlier than that unless it is not yours. You can however still improve your credit score and receive credit with a bankruptcy showing in our report.
Here is some information on to legally repair your credit and improve your credit score.

The law states the credit bureau must give you the name and address of the person or company that put the bad report on your credit and they must verify the information. Your credit report has the bankruptcy and the bankruptcy courts address listed as who reported it. The bankruptcy court does not report to the credit bureaus, so that makes this information inaccurate and must be removed. The BBB in your town is the one that reports the bankruptcy to the credit bureau. They don't have the right to.
