Ballet Feet

I

've always heard that in major dance schools the instructors can tell whether or not the students feet are "built" properly for ballet. How would I know whether my feet are right for ballet?

The only things in life you regret are the risks you didn't take.

I have also heard this before but I don't believe it. Haven't you seen the movie CenterStage? The girl is told numerous times she doesn't have the feet or turnout for a ballet dancer and at the end of the movie, she defies all odds and despite not having "ballet feet," dances great.

Well she is a ballet dancer in real life so that doesn't really work because she does have good feet and she has to fake her bad turnout for the movie. you can tell if you have good feet if point your foot (with your knee straight) and put a straight edge on top of your foot. If there is a large space from the straight edge to your toes, you most likely have good feet for ballet. The ideal dancer body is to be really skinny, have long limbs, good feet, good turnout (which you can work on and don't necessarily have to be born with), and having a little bit of hyper extension in your knees improves the line, but you can have all of that and still not be a brilliant dancer because you really have to want it and have to work hard and have artistry. (Like in center stage :) )
