A Bailout That Would Really Work

Would it not have been more prudent to put these billions in the hands of consumers? 1 million to every legal citizen in the US would have only amounted to 329 billion dollars, just about the amount that has already been wasted on giveaways that had no economic impact. The mortgage default fiasco would be fixed, medical payment problems would be dealt with, auto makers would sell cars, education/tuition would not be a problem and interest on these payments would accrue as taxable didvidends.

You should consider taking remedial mathmatics. A billion is 1,000 million. So, 1 billion dollars would bail out 1,000 citizens. For 329 billion dollars, you could give 329,000 people 1 million dollars apiece. There are a lot more people in the US thant that. Almost 1,000 times more.
