Baby sleep patterns

At what age should a typical baby be able to sleep through the night?  (I've heard two months to six weeks, five months, and other numbers ....)

I believe that a baby will sleep through the night when they are ready too.  How old is your baby?  I also heard that if you get them good and full before they get ready to go to bed that will help.  Try this put a little baby ceral in his/her bootle at night not to thick and see how he/she does.  Michelle Loftin tiger_chell@yahoo.com

It is not recommended to put cereal of any kind in a baby's bottle.  This could cause a stomach ache, which will make the baby cry and prolong him/her falling asleep.  Both of my children started sleeping through the night at about 3 months, but it varies with each individual child.  If a baby is hungry during the night, he/she will wake up whether you want them to or not.  Feed the baby an extra 2 oz. before bed time, and make sure you burp him really good so that he doesnt get a stomache ache.  If he goes to sleep happy, it is a higher chance he will sleep through the night.

There are also bedtime baths and lotions you can try.  The aroma that these products produce is known to soothe babies.

I think that it will vary per baby. I am on my third pregnancy and had both my daughters sleeping through the night from when they were just a few days old. I might have been lucky though. I know when they got a little older I would put a little bit of baby cereal in their formula to make their stomachs fuller, this would make them sleep longer because they wouldn't wake up hungry.

My daughter was at approx 5m; I think it does depend on the baby.  I agree to put a little cereal in the milk before bedtime and that should tie them over for a longer period of time.
