Men who are impressive dancers usually get recognition, e.g. John Travolta, because it's uncommon for men to be uninhibited enough to be good on the dancefloor.
I'm sure that's not the only reason. Many actors appear in big hits and then, disappear from the scene. Sometimes because they are hard to work with, (Shelly Long) and sometimes because they get so associated with a role that Producers can't see them in anything else.
