Home improvement projects, "Get'er done."

I used to have a 79 Toranado that was a smoker and it had a few minor engine problems. I switched to synthetic and it made a big difference. Synthetic doesn’t burn as easily and it reduces viscosity breakdown. Before using it in your car, you should check with your mechanic, it is not recommended for all cars.

Brian, synthetic oil is actually cheaper when you consider the additional miles you get between oil changes. Consider this, an oil change using non-synthetic occurs at 3,000 miles and costs $30. Synthetic oil change occurs at 6,000 miles and costs $45. Therefore you're saving $15 over the course of 6,000 miles. My mechanic has been driving 7,500 miles between oil changes and still has the same car, same engine, he first used Mobil 1 in.

Caution, it's not recommended to begin using synthetic oil in cars with significant miles on them. I agree with JQ, check with a qualified mechanic before changing to synthetic.

It cost nothing, the extra m.p.g you get pays for it, I use it in my wife old metro, sit on lawn mower, peugeot disel 406, & push bike, all so it in my oil can. Buy it at halfords when it on offer, you can not go wrong.
