Hello all. I was a victim of a car accident in Oct ...

Hello all. I was a victim of a car accident in Oct 2007 where my head went back and forth really hard and has now caused problems in my neck and back. I did not pass out, but I think there was one brief instance when I lost thought on what was going on at the very end. I remember looking up and thinking "its over with" and I lifted my head to see that my car was still moving a little bit. I do know I was dazed but got out of that pretty fast. I was 36 at the time. Years ago, when I was about 6, my brother and I were running really fast down a sidewalk to see who would win and not paying attention to what was in front of us. I hit my head, head-on into a vehicle that was just parked there. My brother told me years ago that I had passed out and he woke me up. I briefly remember. I do not remember waking up, I just remember crying and being in front of the car. I do not remember the in between. The roof of my mouth was bleeding and my brother and I walked home. My mother (who is good and God forgive her and the doctor) called the family doctor and the doctor explained to not let me go to sleep, etc (this was in the 1970s). I never went to a hospital. I can feel the roof of my mouth now at 38 and tell that it is not quite the way it is supposed to be. I was in a special speech class and slow learning class throught my elementary school and junior years. Back to my auto accident. I have always been a little tongue tied, but it seems like about 3 to 4 months later my speech became more slurred and my concentration is horrible. I am forgetful, easily disturbed at times. Things that seem too much to do is overwhelming to me. I feel like a lot of information is just all jumbled up in my head and not in order. lol. I do not know how else to say it. Just like now as I am typing, I will be on a roll getting out what I want to say and then my mind just stops and feels like it starts thinking about other things and I have to make it focus and bring it back. I was not having symptoms like this originally while I was going to my neurologist (and completely forgot each time I saw him to tell him about the head accident from when I was a kid). I started noticing some of the symptoms that I told you about before my last visit with him (I had insurance then). I was going to tell him and then forgot if you can figure that one out. One of my points is to ask if I can start having symptoms of a brain injury 3 to 4 months afterwards?? and what do you think about it based on my history. I have had depression my whole life. I often wonder if things would have been different if I had not hit that car to begin with.

I am currently a law student looking to assist people as I'm studying to be a Seattle injury attorney .

I think all things considered this is a question you should ask a doctor about. Head injuries should never be taken lightly.
