Autistic movie about a young boy.

Does anyone know the name of that movie about Autism. It involved a young boy about 1yr.old.All he did was spin a plate in front of him on the floor while he was sittin on the ground, as he watched the plate spin, he would flap his hands up and down in excitement.He was autistic.Through much time by the mom, he snapped out of his autistic slump. This movie was at least 22 yrs old.
