Australia apologize to Aborigines

The aborigines are well known for being the "Weak link" of Australia. Tomorrow the Australian Government will apologize to them, for the injustice.

Apart from this political act, are there any real acts that are being carried out, in order to support and rehabilitate the Aborigines?

Why would you consider the aborigines the weak link and why should they be rehabilitated? They were the first inhabitants of Australia and its surrounding islands.

What is going on is racial and ethnic stereotyping. An ethnic stereotype is a generalized representation of an ethnic group, composed of what are thought to be typical characteristics of members of the group. The use of ethnic stereotypes is considered demeaning even when the characteristics might be considered positive because it tends to discount the importance and uniqueness of the individual.

Racial stereotyping has been going on as long as man has existed. Every country has done this and it is still going on. When we as educated people learn to except others for who they are and not base what we think of them based on color, race creed, religion or ethnic background, the sooner we can all live in peace.

no matter what small gestures the government does it won't be able to cover up all the wrongs that have been done over the years. The aborigines land was stolen from them and today they are in a hole that's really hard to climb out from. The gaps between the white men and the aborigines are so big that it'll take a long time for things to even up.

I am really happy this gesture is being done. As an Australian I feel the government has wronged the Aborigines for long enough and it's about time they took some responsibility for their actions.

The truth is that this has to be the beginning of something more substantial. Words are nice but they don't carry very far. Actions on the other hand... The Australian government has to help the Aborigines improve their quality of life, creating opportunities for them to succeed in Australia's society.

After this is done apologies will actually have a meaning.
