well while i have been on vacation much has happened & so I have a Tid Bit for all of you sadly our government is ignoring us. our congressmen we put in our stead to speak for us are blowing us off as a nut case and our speaker of the house who is 3rd inline to become the president of the Us just called all of us un-American so what does that make her?
Dear Liberty Activist ,
You have struck a nerve with the radical power elite in Washington. Which usually means you're on the right track!
In gauging Congressional reaction to their own constituents' opposition to ObamaCare, it is clear beyond any doubt that Congress not only ignores the people—but they disdain you.
Congressman Steve Kagen says you're "uncivilized," while Congressman Baron Hill calls you "political terrorists," and now House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer have put the icing on the cake by leveling the charge that you are "un-American".
Specifically the House Democrat leaders wrote that , "These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades."
Did you know that? You're drowning out the supporters of ObamaCare! Who knew, that by loudly and passionately expressing your displeasure with government—your constitutionally-guaranteed rights—you're somehow infringing on others' rights. Poppycock.
Don't be intimidated. Last week, when they were calling groups like Americans for Limited Government that are merely reporting information and encouraging much-needed activism "Astroturf" we would not allow ourselves to be bullied. And neither should you.
Your opposition to ObamaCare is legitimate, and it has an honored position in America's time-honored tradition of public criticism of the government. The government wants to take over the health care system—and you're trying your darndest to stop them.
And dang whip it, there's not a thing they can to stop you !
Get involved, make phone calls, and visit your cowardly Congressmen. Whether they like it or not, they work for you. You're the boss!
And keep attuned to local efforts in your Congressional district. And check out those efforts culminating in the August 22nd "Recess Rally," which Americans for Limited Government is co-sponsoring. You can click on your state and see numerous rallies to attend—all expressing opposition to ObamaCare.
And keep on making those targeted phone calls: click here for a list of 40 Blue Dogs who signed the letter against ObamaCare in July, promising not to support a proposal that was not "deficit-neutral" . Again, the list has been expanded to include email addresses, district office addresses, phone numbers, and fax numbers. And here's a .pdf version of the same list .
As you know, these forty votes are absolutely necessary in order to defeat ObamaCare when it comes up again in September. You know what to do. I'll be expanding the list in the coming days to add another 50 or so House Democrats who should be getting an earful, too.
In today's Liberty Action Report , the Omerican Police State is rising—and they don't want any interacting, Capitol South finds the Senator's staff poking fun at cowardly Townhall Congressmen, and the Washington elite still control the terms of the national debate. Plus, Common Sense 2000 has a terrific parody of recent developments of conservatives organizing against ObamaCare. Pretty funny stuff.
Please send your letters to me at Robert@getliberty.org . We publish all points of view! Today, J. James writes:
"Never in my lifetime have I seen America on such a slippery slope: too much, too fast. I did not vote for Obama, however, I did find him to be a likeable guy. Now I know why he just did not seem right. He and his staff and the liberals are selling us down the river. This is not right. I believe everyone will find out real soon why Americans are so wonderful. We are fighters for freedom with a great love for our country.
"I was talking with a gentleman the other day and he said that America was in trouble and 'they' ought to do something. I asked who 'they' were. He wasn't sure. But he now knows that 'they' are you, me, and him; that what each of us need to do is talk, talk, talk, and fight for the wonderful freedoms we have.
"Keep up the great work, and keep encouraging people to open their mouth."
Thank you, J., and keep fighting! Your efforts are already paying dividends!

The Rise of the Obama Police State—An Early Demonstration?
By Robert Romano
"We don't want interacting," said the police officer, to the shock of the conservative activist holding the camera. She was in Baton Rouge, LA, filming a demonstration by ACORN in favor of Barack Obama's proposed government-run health care. And what she had just witnessed, as the officer led the offending man away who had dared speak to the activist, was nothing short of the disruption of free speech, of the press, and of the right to assemble—by the police.
As reported by the Examiner , "Things took a surprising and dangerous turn when a police officer, clearly sympathetic to the ACORN rally, attempts to shut down the opposition. At one point, during a very civil discussion between an opponent and a supporter of the president's plan, the police officer returned and actually told the individuals opposing the president's plan they were not allowed to speak. The man in blue shirt, a supporter of the president's plan, later returns and attempts to defend the free speech rights of the counter protesters."
For all intents and purposes, she was reporting on the demonstration. And yet, every time she attempted to converse with opponents of ObamaCare, the police intervened. Not exactly what one would call the protection of unalienable rights. It looks more like a police state—in its infancy.
On Wikipedia, a police state is described , "The inhabitants of a police state experience restrictions on their mobility, and on their freedom to express or communicate political or other views, which are subject to police monitoring or enforcement." Exactly what was seen in Baton Rouge.
In this case, nobody was arrested. But it is troubling, to say the least, that the police were apparently ordered to disrupt any interaction between supporters and opponents of ObamaCare, even ones that were perfectly willing to debate.
"We disagree. We can have a civil conversation and talk while we walk. We disagree. It's fine," said one ObamaCare supporter, who too was disgusted by the police action.
Really, the ones who had obviously expressed a desire to avoid even civil discourse of their views were the ACORN demonstrators. Of course, there is no such thing as freedom from speech, or debate. But if one does not like what is being said, they can simply move to the other side of the street.
But since they were protesting, wasn't the point to defend their views? When they put themselves out there, as members of a self-described public interest organization, they actually are public figures—a part of the national political debate. That makes the views expressed by the organization subject to public scrutiny by press or citizen journalists alike.
Instead, in Omerica, apparently there is the stunning emergence of a political elite. They are beyond reproach and criticism. And the police will see to that, as can be seen in this appalling display.

Moderate Discourse: The Jailer of Freedom?
By David Bozeman
Bill O'Reilly continues his harangue that conservatives should just drop the Obama birth certificate controversy. Dennis Miller recently advised that Republicans should just let Sotomayor sail through confirmation, since she is replacing a liberal anyway, and we don't want to alienate Hispanics. And, Juan Williams chided conservatives for "going after" Sotomayor and labeling her a racist.
Does anyone notice a pattern here? American political discourse is about as deep as a birdbath. Most conservatives try to launch serious national debates on serious issues, occasionally even gaining traction. But the voices from the town square keep nagging us, like pesky little do-gooders: "You can't say that!"
In 2008, of course, candidate John McCain tiptoed around Barack Obama's ties to radicals. Colin Powell, who, by the way, supported Obama, recently appeared on Larry King Live, battling Rush Limbaugh for the title of de facto voice of the GOP because he (Powell) considers Rush too "strident.".
In this week's National Review cover story, Maggie Gallagher notes that conservative radio hosts are nervous about discussing gay marriage. Few, if any, have rallied support for fellow host Michael Savage, either, who has been banned from England solely for his political speech. Didn't conservative talk radio used to be afraid of nothing?
The fact is, political debate in this country today has become cautious and uninspiring. Most of us long to hear the conservative extremists of the liberals' imaginations, having suffered the excruciating congeniality of Bob Dole, President Bush 43, John McCain and the litany of commentators tiptoeing around the peripheries of any given issue. A number of fine commentators and writers breathe fire, but it is the base the is propelling modern conservatism.
The most rousing words from the Monday night news shows were clips of town hall meetings, particularly one from Philadelphia where a woman confronted Sen. Arlen Specter and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius (and I'm paraphrasing): "Medicare and Social Security are going broke, cash-for-clunkers is a joke, and yet you expect us to trust you with our health care." What her words lacked in originality, she more than made up for with conviction.
Other town-hallers mention the Constitution and the proper role of government, which means they get it. A common lament is that nastiness and mudslinging are ruining our political process. And, while that may not be entirely untrue, a greater harm is a citizenry lulled into complacency by flat, predictable dialogue. And "Complacency," as John Kennedy warned, "is the jailer of freedom."
Our founders knew it. And the American people, now waking up with a vengeance, know it, too. It's time for our "leaders" to start hearing – and heeding – their "followers."

War of the Watchdogs
Up before dawn this pleasant summer morn, my casual daily stroll across the Web in search of delightful news for blog content seemed somehow to be just another glorious day of fatuous bliss. In these serene Orwellian days when change is actually much more of the same, hope is actually despair, and transparency is actually opacity, headlines are rife with eager potential for more thought crimes against the Ministry of Truth and the Big Brother Administration.
In my earnest quest to reach the elusive Room 101 or at least a secluded joycamp, all the usual questions pervaded my impure mind. Where is John Galt? What would Winston Smith do? Why IS the constitution bad?
Then, without warning, just over the horizon I glimpsed the fringes of new strife. Soon I could hear the call to arms. Coming directly toward me at the speed of broadband was … what … could it be true … unfolding on Battlefield Internet a new struggle for freedom was beginning … the War of the Watchdogs.
First blood was drawn by a gallant General, known to patriots as the inimitable Glenn Beck. Saul Alinsky's arrant knaves speak of him only as the "Faux News Clown".
…
Less than an hour later, First Lieutenant Adam Bitely of NetRightNation.com urged the freedom-loving watchdogs to counter the counter-watchdog-attack by:
"Email that address [flag@whitehouse.gov ] reporting Barack Obama for not telling the truth on Health Care. Let's try and flood that inbox with as many reports about Obama and his minions attempting to deceive the public as possible."
