Ask Eric Stromer a question here.Messy neighbors yards

Ask Eric Stromer oma question here. I live in a town house and all the backyards are visible to each other. A metal fence divides each persons' garden..  To get to the garden I must walk down a flight of steps from my deck.  From my garden I don't see much of the other peoples' MESSY YARDS. But from my deck all is visible. What can I do so that I can't see the MESS from my deck. I do most of my summer living from my deck.  I hate it.  thanks for any help you may give

There are a many kinds of fencing or material you can use.  Make a frame and put material in them, change the material at will.  Along with the lattice you could plant climbing plants in pots at the base and have flowers on your deck that hide and look nice.

I had the same problem so what I did was extend  the fence that was already in place and make it a 6 foot fence instead. I then planted gape vines that have filled in the spaces. I hope this helps

Instant Person-Just add coffee.

Trellis and flowers are great--just remember to check with your townhouse association if you are going to build something there.  In addition, if the other yards are "messy" can you report them to the assn?  Maybe they would handle the problems.  There usually are many rules when you live in townhouses/condos.  Good luck on this.

Rocky69rhodes, I can see from your posting how smart you are. Can you say "punctuation?" Vera was looking for answers, and I am not one to "assume" what she had or had not done, or what the association "knew."
I also did not mention the association caring about a trellis; I merely stated if they were going to "build" something, they might check with the association.  You must not live in a townhouse/condo.  I do, and our rules would not allow any building on our decks.  Thanks again for your pleasant response.

put up a trellis on your deck. Its a very light panel 4x8 in a criss cross pattern like for climbing roses and grow roses or some type of vines on it and it will hide you from the neighbors and the mess from you
