Ashlee Simpson is pregnant and is planning a shotgun wedding

Ashlee Simpson is pregnant and plans to get married next month at a friend's house in La Jolla, in Southern California, a source close to her family tells PEOPLE.

Simpson, 23, just recently got engaged to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, 28, who initially blasted pregnancy rumors as a "witch hunt."

The media reports the news. But whose responsibility is it to explain to young fans that this celebrity behavior is irresponsible and that to avoid this problem means to simply use a condom? Do celebrities realize that young people often try to emulate their behavior and getting pregnant at a young age is not something to aspire to?

Does anyone notice a fad in Hollywood of young unmarried women getting knocked up, including stars Britney Spears' little sister Jamie Lynn Spears who is 16 and pregnant, Jessica Alba and Selma Hayeck?

This is a disturbing phenomena but I think that parents and educators need to play a big role in making it clear that these situations can be avoided. We can't expect celebrities to do this because they simply aren't responsible enough (apparently). There needs to be massive efforts by the education system to convey the message that this isn't the path to take.

The only things in life you regret are the risks you didn't take.

I think it's really sad that these young stars are so much in need of unconditional love that they feel having a baby is the only way to get it. I mean, there is no other explanation for it. Why else wouldn't they be using condoms or some form of birth control if they weren't looking to get pregnant? I mean, it cannot be because condoms are too expensive and I have a hard time believing that all the women and the recent pregnancies out of wedlock means these women never learned about birth control and safe sex. It's just a shame that this "stars" will not bother taking a look at how their actions affect their fans.
