Artist name of collected songs in iPod

How should I tag my iPod collected/soundtrack songs for easy browsing? I usually listen to artists according to albums, but for collections ("Best of MTV unplugged") or soundtracks (like the excellent one of Pulp Fiction) Its strange to write for each song the performer because they clutter on my artists list with 1-2 songs, any usually are relatively unknown so I wouldn't recognize them. on the other had, if I leave it "Various Artists" I loose the artist name information (do you have a song by...?) and groupings for known artists that I have an additional song for them... Maybe I should us "Grouping" somehow to solve this? Any one knows a place this discussion was held with options to workaround it?

How about this: (found it on wikihow)

For soundtracks, put Original Soundtrack for the title and then for the album put the name of the soundtrack. This keeps you from having to look to the albums subdivision originally for soundtracks. Label the songs with the artists in the song field and a dash to separate them.

I'm glad the music I listen to never makes it to soundtracks Laughing

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, The usual browse is from Artist to their albums. I'm not looking at the flat album list. It is very hard to figure the artist name just by having the album name.

It will take some more time on your part, but perhaps putting the artist in the song name would be helpful.  So if track #1 on the CD was Man on the silver Mountain by Rainbow it would look like this:

 Artist: Album or Soundtrack name

Album:  Album or Soundtrack name

Song: 01. Rainbow - Man on the Silver Mountain
