I am currently treating my own arthritis naturally with glucosamine chondroitin sulfate, 3 capsules a day.  I would guess that the same dosage could be given to your dog, given his size.  Best to check with a vet. on dosage to be safe, however. I use Cosamin DS, the brand that was used in research studies (don't waste your money on special pet versions of the supplement).  Research from a book called "The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care" indicates the following anti-inflammatory herbs: boswelia, bupleurum, devil's claw root, feverfew, & yucca.  Best to find a naturally inclined vet. to decide which is best.  Acupuncture & acupressure to ST36 & LI11 are recommended, as well.  A heated dog bed will provide comfort.

Anti-rheumatics include

celery seed, and meadowsweet. Comfrey leaf  is thought to help heal synovial membrane and joint cartilage.

I enjoy using Yedda to ask and answer medical questions. I previously worked as a nurse but am now based from home - having just completed a long spell of breast cancer treatment.

Life has also been busy lately after the arrival of our new puppy called poppy. She's a black labarador retriever and drives us all crazy at times but we just adore the buzz she brings to the house. Last week she caused me a shoulder injury by tugging when out walking - but I can forgive that for the fun she brings.

Last month my husband invested in the Resperate device for lower blood pressure - and boy is it effective? We've discovered that it's much better overall to lower blood pressure naturally.

The best treatment is a drug called Matacalm-UK name- not sure about this in other countries.
