10 thumbs up

This is a difficult question, I'm not sure the information is available.

This report (pdf) says that "In total, the global public auction Fine Art market generated a total revenue of $ 6.4 billion", but I don't know what's the total size of the market, and what's the share of the auctions or the online sales in it. The data about auctions is certainly the easiest to find; whether or not anyone collects data about sales in galleries, private sales and online sales - I don't know.

Global art market transactions amount to $30 billion per annum

Hello, how  r u nice to see you yesterday... saw your question so did a google... see below... if u r still looking at this then I would take the transactions per year and for predictions I would look at the trading price of a few publicly listed auctino houses (like sothebys) and note the correlation historically to the stock market.. then apply correlation to forward looking stock market scenarios of check out the options market for global stock index and note skew. phew!!!

hmm two thumbs down for my last answer... I need to amend it.

Art has no financial value.

....but they sure make great comments on MySpace and social networks....

but the value is the concept and idea.... not the physical market value of it.

as for something like an old painting... yes.... but it is less art and more a historical artifact.

...back in the day someone could make something special and people would pay money for it even if it were new.

I am an artist.  I am speaking from experience inside the market.  MARKETING myself and many many others.

I have spent the last four years marketing artists by selling advertising in the industry.

trust me....

your shit is worthless.
