Yep! Happened once.I was given a painting by someone which was so dreadful that it could have been painted by a chimpanzee. Maybe it was! The giver looked at it admiringly and said "What do you think of it?" I paused, and then said "Frank, every time I see this it will remind me of you. I can honestly say that I have never seen a picture quite like it." He went away delighted, and I took it home and put it in the attic, where it remained for some time before I in turn gave it to someone I didn't particlarly like all that much. He was thrilled. Which goes to show that art is what you can get away with!
