Van Gogh did that , you're right and not Picasso , but it was over a dispute he had with Paul Gauguin . On the other hand Van Gogh suffered from depression and has spent some times in a mental institution in Arles/France , so we can never blame depressive artists for anything they do , because they are innocent and have an excuse, the madness. They are not responsible of their acts.
