Armenian Genocide (?) and the US-Turkey Relations

Nancy Pelosi intends to move on with the process of declaring that the mass murder of Armenians by Turkey around 100 years ago was genocide. Turkey opposes this resolution and they say it will severely harm the US-Turkey relations. But actually the Turkish have a lot more to lose, don’t they? I know that Turkey helps the US in the Iraq war by letting the US send supplies to Iraq through Turkey but the war will probably end in a year. What does the US need Turkey for?

The United states needs allies in the Middle East and therefore I wouldn't say that they are too keen on loosing Turkey as one of them. The day may come, when the U.S. will have to deal with other threats in the Middle East. On that day Turkey will prove to be a very important friend.

With that being said Turkey gets a lot out of it's relations with the U.S. and that is why I think, they won't be so quick to sever their ties with Washington.

we don't turn on our allies in america if the war is over in a year. Turkey will be exactly were they are right now, under the protection of america, the end of the war doese not symbolize the end of americas presence in the middle east it actually means quite the opposite, and for the record it could take more than ayear before we leave Iraq still, the ideal is for IRAQ to function the way that Turkey does right now. That is our model of what a democratic muslem country should look and function like, and calling something in their history a genocide will make no difference it will only be something we have in commen. no on disputes that america has a genocide in their past. But the past is the past.
