What are the best types of apples for making apple cider?
Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.
Cider experts agree that you should combine sweeter apples and tart apples.
Fuji, Gala and Delicious (red or yellow) are sweet apples.
Jonagold is both sweet & slightly tart.
Baldwin, MacIntosh & Winesap are tart apples. (Good luck finding Winesap; it's my favorite but I don't think there are many farmers growing them anymore)
Thank you.

Earls brain had the right answer. Use both sweet and tart apples to make a delicious cider. The bottled cider you buy in stores, taste nothing like the the cider made with love at home.

I agree but would add Macoun if you can find it.
