Generally, anxiety attacks can be described as persistent and overwhelming fear in situations where the average person would not be concerned or feel threatened.

Some Anxiety attack symptoms would typically include:

- Heart palpitations and pounding, and or chest pain, and accelerated heart rate,

- Perspiration from hot flushes, and chills

- Feeling detached from surroundings, or as though you may feint

- Shivering, trembling or shaking,

- Shortness of breath / difficulty of breathing / hyperventilation

- choking sensation,

- nausea, stomach cramps, upset tummy

- dizziness,

- overwhelming fear of losing control or going crazy

There are also anxiety symptoms that effect one's life in general , that is to say, outside of experiencing anxiety attack symptoms.

These general anxiety symptoms could be:

  • Excessive perspiration
  • Frequent upset stomachs and runny stools
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nervous tremors and twitches
  • Muscle tension
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia
  • Constant tiredness

General anxiety symptoms and physical and emotional anxiety attack symptoms  are often caused by a build up of stress from daily events and also pronounced stressful events - losing one's work, not able to make the mortgage payments, getting divorced, changing cities, losing a loved one etc. It's a common fact that many people who suffer anxiety attack symptoms also suffer from depression at some stage.

Many people are unaware that anxiety / panic attacks can be controlled and cured and that they can regain / live a better life.

Some advice for anxiety attack sufferers would be:

  • Set aside time for relaxation and fun
  • If you need emotional support you must be able to ask for it
  • Exercise and eat correctly

For some excellent advice on how to beat anxiety attacks I suggest you visit  eliminate panic and anxiety attacks , a totally natural method that requires no medication.

They don't just cure anxiety attack symptoms they explain how people can free themselves from ever having another panic attack!

I had a family member who suffered from anxiety attacks as long as she can remember, she swears by their all natural method that helped her overcoming her panic attacks.

I hope that helps with your Question about anxiety attack symptoms.

I wish you all the best for the future.

I'm glad I signed into Yedda now because I was looking for some info about anxiety attack symptoms (not right now but it was on my mind). My niece is having a lot of problems at school so I think this is excellent advice to pass along to my brother.

Great info earlybird!

Some physical anxiety attack symptoms are a rush of adrenaline that gives you that urge to flee from the situation, anxiety attacks can also be described as a sudden feeling of fear or depression from fear without the feelings to flee or evade the situation.

I have bad anxiety attacks as well, to the point i never want to leave the house. I gave up on medicine, and retrained my brain. I just told myself when i felt a panic attack coming on that nothing bad is going to happen to me... my point is you cant die from a panic attack although it may feel like it..

Antidepressants and alcohol do not mix. If you dont want to take my word for it, look it up on google.

And about Zoloft.... I have the same problems as you do.

1)Agarophobic- cant go outside

2)Panic Attacks.

3)Only difference is I dont drink. At all. (Well aside from gatherings and stuff)

When I took Zoloft, it "seemed" to have helped me for a year or two. I started going outside again... Also no panic attacks. Allthough I had episodes of strong anxiety even under Zoloft.

Breathe in and out in a paper bag ( it will ease any unstable breathing or difficulty in breathing - it works for me)

- Sit down or stand up ( whichever you are more comfortable in doing ) and close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly and deeply.

- Fight your own thoughts and think to yourself " I'm not panicking, I'm not worried, there is nothing wrong with me" etc.

- Find something that will occupy you for a while e.g internet or T.V until you calm down FULLY, don't stop doing it if you are still anxious or shaking.

If you have been having panic attacks for 4 years, you do need to see a doctor and see if there is anything else going on. Having panic attacks for so long and not seeking treatment can have severe affects on your body that are irreversible and serious. If you still don't want to see a doctor knowing that, then here a some things that might help you out.

1) Reduce the amount of caffeine in your diet.
2) Breathing exercises.
3) Exercise.
