If it's not fun, you're doing it wrong.

dweller, thank you.  Yes, giving up on Yedda is not something I take lightly.  These are old issues that we are dealing with that should have been taken care of long ago.

The money concern is our only stick to prod AOL and Yedda.  We Yeddai are the largest source of revenue through page-view advertising.  The partner sites don't pay to be a partner, but get paid through some type of revenue sharing.  If we don't answer questions, there is no purpose to the site, and no page-views of answers.

It is the Yeddai like OronD, DB Lady, tiptopmanager, (and modestly, myself) and others who have built up this site's reputation and helped to attract all those partner sites and made it worthwhile for AOL to buy Yedda.

There are a lot of competing sites, and at least one that pays the people who answer questions, and we can easily move our blogging there.  The reason we liked Yedda was that it was sophisticated, intelligent and freely shared information.  It was, when I joined it, a very dignified site, with close moderation by the staff to weed out the crazies.  We didn't need the protection then that we need now because the staff took care of things.

Since being absorbed by AOL the staff has disappeared from view (I used to be in close contact with them, and highly respected by them, but now I can't even get them to reply to me) and we have to have the tools to protect ourselves.  Myspace gives me this ability, Yedda should too.

Thank you for your support.  It sucks to be new to something and be dragged into these problems, so you have my sympathy.  Kind of takes some of the fun out of it, and this used to be a very fun site for me.
