Tippy, yeah, the nut jobs are busy today.  They have been attacking everybody that posts to me, too, so a lot of people are losing thumbs as we speak.  Even Yaniv is getting attacked, though I find it hard to feel sympathy for him over it.  Two years ago he said it would be "thumbs down with a reason" and if he had kept his promise none of this thumbs war would be happening.  And letting people post answers and thumbs without even confirming their e-mail address is just plain wrong.

I am also getting annoyed that Yedda won't tell us anything about these crazies.  We could lean on their ISP to cut off their service, since this type of thing is probably prohibited by their terms of service.  It also would be nice to at least know what country this is all coming from.  We could write their embassy and ask for real help to stop these international attacks.

Oh, well, I guess that in a few days I will move elsewhere.  There is no point in staying if I have to give up my profile and my history here just to stop being harassed on every thread I post to, and dragging new people into the mess everytime they respond to me.

While I hope that Yedda does end this once and for all, I seriously have my doubts and I am continuing to look at other sites without these problems.

People like this "he has risen" that use religion as a cover for their personal evil are .....  well, words fail me.  I just want to forget about it and go away.  The solution to the problem is too easy and Yedda is too lax for allowing it.

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

All Done........Tippy

Tippy, thanks for signing. I don't know if it can work, but it is worth a shot. It is not like we have to raise money or do work or anything, just promise to quit posting. If the partner sites get involved in the discussion, we might have a pretty good shot at getting this fixed. They and Yedda have a financial stake in keeping us posting answers and creating discussion blogs. No doubt some of them have already fielded complaints from people asking questions who were flamed or otherwise harassed.

profitbob, I'm reconsidering the pledge to stop posting. I guess my initial reluctance to do that is based in a complete lack of faith in any large corporation's concern for its customers if there is no monetary downside. On the other hand, from day one I was confronted and puzzled by the reports of thumb massacre; this is obviously a problem that's been going on for a while now, and doing nothing is just giving in to the haters. The choice of the Ides of March, and your quote from Shakespeare, are great.

dweller, thank you.  Yes, giving up on Yedda is not something I take lightly.  These are old issues that we are dealing with that should have been taken care of long ago.

The money concern is our only stick to prod AOL and Yedda.  We Yeddai are the largest source of revenue through page-view advertising.  The partner sites don't pay to be a partner, but get paid through some type of revenue sharing.  If we don't answer questions, there is no purpose to the site, and no page-views of answers.

It is the Yeddai like OronD, DB Lady, tiptopmanager, (and modestly, myself) and others who have built up this site's reputation and helped to attract all those partner sites and made it worthwhile for AOL to buy Yedda.

There are a lot of competing sites, and at least one that pays the people who answer questions, and we can easily move our blogging there.  The reason we liked Yedda was that it was sophisticated, intelligent and freely shared information.  It was, when I joined it, a very dignified site, with close moderation by the staff to weed out the crazies.  We didn't need the protection then that we need now because the staff took care of things.

Since being absorbed by AOL the staff has disappeared from view (I used to be in close contact with them, and highly respected by them, but now I can't even get them to reply to me) and we have to have the tools to protect ourselves.  Myspace gives me this ability, Yedda should too.

Thank you for your support.  It sucks to be new to something and be dragged into these problems, so you have my sympathy.  Kind of takes some of the fun out of it, and this used to be a very fun site for me.

Rocmike3, thanks for your support. Yeah, thumbs aren't an issue for me, either, but they mean something to other people. It is being able to delete unwanted comments that I really want. It used to be okay when Yedda had moderators that read everything and cleaned it up before too many people saw the garbage, and kept a lid on the flamers. But now we have to fend for ourselves so we need the delete button in our hands.
