Yup! And it's all true. The derogatory crap you read on here posted by fanatics and the deranged is the BS. I personally know people from some of those countries listed in the documentary and they totally agree with Moore. They love their health care, and tho not perfect, said they could NEVER afford to get sick in this country because they would go broke. They can't believe we don't have National Health Care. Most of the rest of the world does. We're a little behind the times. But not suprizing when healthcare in this country isn't to heal the sick but to make big money. The patient isn't the first consideration, but rather how much money is to be made by the doctors, hospitals and drug companies for any ilness. We're just $dollar signs and nothing more.

I've seen it and it is completely one sided.  Just look at the breast cancer mortality rate in those countries compared to ours.  You are less likely to die here if you get sick.  Yes we have problems with our system, but they can be easily fixed.  The solutions are simple, but some would like everyone  to believe otherwise.  First start with tort reform, then change the laws to allow interstate competition, and create better laws to deal with fraud.  These are just a few but they are simple. Complicated solutions to a problem only create bigger problems.  We don't need a different system.  We just need to make ours better.

Ask your self, how will national healthcare be paid for?  You can't add that much government spending without raising everyones taxes.  Bigger government equals bigger tax burdens.

P.S. I broke my wrist in Vancouver Canada, I spent 27 hours in the emergency room and when I had a follow up visit when I got back to the U.S. they had to re-break my wrist because they missed a fracture and set my wrist wrong, and the type of cast they used hadn't been used in the U.S. for quite some time.  The cast they gave me weighed about 3 times as much as the one that replaced it.  They were still using plaster instead of fiberglass.  Granted that was quite awhile ago, but my point is that we have the best technology in the world, always have.

Mitywhite, I'm sorry to here about the bad experience you had with your wrist, but as well just as many mistakes are made in this country every day, and people have to PAY dearly for them. As well many people have DIED in emergency rooms right here in the USA because they had to wait so long for treatment they didn't make it. And why if our technology is so superior, are people traveling to other countries for treatment they can't get here? HUMMMMMM. Sounds like no matter which way you flip the coin, it keeps coming up tails.

Annette, what people are going overseas to get medical procedures?  The only ones I know of are the ones where people goto buy organs to bypass the waiting list or people who choose to get elective surgeries because they can get it cheaper somewhere else.  Anyone who has a choice comes here.  The rich and elite from all over the world come here.  When was the last time you heard of some Saudi Prince going to Canada for a surgery. They don't, they come here all the time.  If you don't know that then you must be drinking some serious kool-aid.  SOCIALIZED MEDICINE SUCKS. There is no incentive for greatness.  Why do you think  so many doctors come here from other countries rather than practice where they are from.

Money honey, MONEY that's why people come here to practice medicine, to make big money. Well since you don't believe in socialized medicine, I assume you don't plan to use medicare when you retire, cuz that's what medicare IS!!!!! Socialized medicine!! Govt. funded, think about it for one minute and you might realize just how foolish you sound.

Hi Annette. You got that right. MONEY! Of course the cost would have to be absorbed by all, but the primary reason Universal Health gets squashed in this country is the rich would absorb alot of the cost through taxes. The irony I find in all this is the wealth that has been incured by the medical eatablishment in this country. After all, doctors come out in debt, strapped with student loans. Lets not forget the legal system in our country. You only have to turn on the TV to realize the law firms waiting in the wings to chaulk up their piece of the pie. Then we have the pharmacutical companies making there wealth off the sick and dieing.

No health care system is perfect but when a society denies the right to health and life to it's people because of finance, I'll take the heavy cast anyday.

kelly, Amen on the heavy cast if it means every citizen in this country is entitled to the same healthcare as the next. I bet if all the PROFIT is taken out of big Business, oh, I mean medicine, I wonder how many doctors will be clamoring to come to this country and set up practices then.

Our present medical system is built on greed, not care, and anyone who cannot see that needs to get their eyes examined and maybe a cat scan of their brain, of course that would be very expensive, hopefully their insurance will pay for it! Of course after deductibles and co-pays they'll still have to pay a hefty sum out of pocket.

What gets me is the stupidity of some, when they start spouting that socialized medicine doesn't work. I think no better example is medicare and medicaid, they're well and working beautifully, and have for years! All President Obama wants to do is expand medicare to include everyone of all ages, and to off set the high cost of prescription drugs, high deductibles and co-pays. How, can anyone be so stupid as not to see the benefit in it for all???!!!!

As well the President has STATED numerous times, he plans to tax the rich to pay for it, like they'll even miss it!! Of course they are all so greedy, godforbid they should have to cough up a few more dollars, that they didn't pay taxes on in the first place! Sounds like a wonderful plan to me. Take from the rich and give to the poor. I shall call his name, Robin Hood.

I truely don't think that you understand how this world works.  There is no such thing as just taxing the rich to pay for a program.  The higher their taxes the more we pay for the goods and services their companies provide.  Therefore everyone pays but them.
