Dear cjtjjt,

I have a French Biulldog who has had a problem with scabbed bumps that caused him to lose the hair around these bumps.  Our  vet and a skin specialist that we consulted of course said it was an allergy.   He was put onto a single protein diet of White fish and sweet potatoes.  We use the Wellness dry food and mix  Natural Balance canned food, which is also White Fish and sweet potato, in with the dry food.  Also when we bath him we use VET Solutions Aloe & Oatmeal Shampoo and also the Conditioner.   He only has Medi-Cal treats and  has not had any episodes for the last two years.  You can only purchase the treats from your Vet.  Hope this helps you.

My dalmatian had the same thing.  It was a long and expensive process trying to find out what he was allergic to...in the end he was allergic to his food, things cleared up when we switched him to dry dog food made from rabbit meat.  Try and find a dermatologist for animals, they'll be able to help you out quicker than an ordinary vet.  Good luck.
