Alphabetize contacts list by email?

If you're using webmail, go into your Contacts list (click "contacts" in the folder list on the left). When the contacts list displays, click on the word "Email" towards the top of the contacts list to resort the column by email. Click once for alphabetical, twice for reverse alphabetical.

If you're using client software (say AOL 9.1), you can sort by "screen name" by clicking on the column heading in the Address Book, or selecting "screen name" in the "Sort By:" box.

I assume you have contacts with First Name, Last Name and contacts with either a first name only or only a last name - or some with just email addresses. The sort feature works this way: Ascending: Last Name, First Name;  Firstname; Screename. Descending works the other way around.

So assume you have two contacts with "Joe Alpha" and "Jim Delta", once contact only named "Bravo" and one with email address only (charlie@aim.com), the sorting would look like this: "Alpha, Joe"; "Delta, Jim"; "Bravo"; "charlie@aim.com"

To alphabetize email, I just use 'Sort My List'.  Just go to http://sortmylist.com, and paste in your list of email addresses.  Then, select "A-Z Email" option from the drop-down list, and click 'Sort'.  Your email addresses will be sorted, 1st by domain name, and then, if you have more than one from the same domain name, they'll be sorted by the person's name.
