Alimony and Child Support

Do you think it is right for a teenager whose parents are divorced to ask her dad for special and expensive things (like for Christmas or her birthday) even though she knows he pays child support and alimony?

He gives her presents and stuff, but she asks for more money.

If he is a financial position to do so and it is really needed yes. If it is just a greed factor, then no.

Be happy.

While I think it's hard to be a child of divorce, I think it's not right when a child takes advantage of a situation. If her father is more financially stable than her mother, it's acceptable to ask for some things she needs, but not out of greed and selfishness. If she's asking for money on top of the presents her father is already giving her, I think it's wrong and her father should put his foot down and say no.

Here's an excellent question...how are you involved in this? Let me guess. You're the new wife, girlfriend, etc. Didn't you ask your parents for stuff when you were a kid? Of course you did; your parents just didn't have random new spouses to resent your existence. This girl already as to live with divorced parents. If you really begrudge her material objects, too, get out of her dad's life. It's his place to tell her what he can afford and to set limits on what she should expect.
